How to create a Power Automate flow

Automate complex workflows with LAWLIFT and Microsoft Power Automate

Info

This feature is only available in our unlimited plan. For further information please contact our support at support@lawlift.com

As an official Microsoft partner, we enable you to connect LAWLIFT seamlessly with Power Automate to automate your workflows. The next steps show you how to set up your first flow.

Create a connection

The first step is to connect your LAWLIFT account to Power Automate. Therefore we provide you with an API key, which you can obtain from our customer support (support@lawlift.com).

To connect LAWLIFT go to “Connections” in the menu bar. If you search for LAWLIFT and click on the “+”-sign at the left, you will be asked to insert the API key.

Create your first flow

Now you are ready to create your first Power Automate flow with LAWLIFT. Click on “Create” in the menu bar and choose “Automated cloud flow”. Then fill in the name of your flow and choose LAWLIFT as your trigger.

To trigger a flow you can choose between the events “when documents are exported” and “when a questionnaire is submitted”. As Power Automate always works with LAWLIFT publications your choice depends on the way you publish a template. If you only published the questionnaire you need to go with “when a questionnaire is submitted”. If you completely published a template with its questionnaire and text then “when documents are created” would be the right option.

Define your steps

From this point on you can define what your flow should be executing. For demo purposes, we show you a simple use case in which an email is sent after exporting a document.

Therefore we select the step “Send an email notification”.

In the second step, we then define where the email should be sent to, what the subject should be, and what content we want to write into the body of the mail. Here we can use different dynamic elements provided by LAWLIFT to fill those fields, e.g. the Owner's E-Mail and the Answers CSV File. The possible dynamic elements are listed here on the right.

Info

You also have to create a connection for your mail provider. The steps are similar to the steps on how to connect LAWLIFT. You then have to log in with your mail provider's credentials. For further information please contact the Microsoft support.

Now, the flow can be saved. Power Automate will indicate if everything is set up correctly. You also have the opportunity to perform test runs with your flow. To do so, follow the instructions within Power Automate. Read more about testing Power Automate Flows here.

In order to activate the created flow inside Lawlift please follow these instructions

Power Automate works only for Publications

The Power Automate Feature is for Publication purposes only. Creating a document from a preview or while using a template will not activate the trigger. The connection to Power Automate is only established if you have selected the flow within a publication.
