Consecutive numbering of paragraphs

"I'm having problems displaying the numbering in Word correctly. Word numbers the headings correctly with §. However, it numbers the paragraphs below it consecutively across the various §. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution on my own to make Word understand that a new § should be started again with (1). Can you help me here?"

Something seems to have "broken" with the list formatting in Word. In order to restart renumbering after each heading, you would have to check the list formatting in Word and reset it if necessary. As a rule, the "Restart list after:" option is not activated in the list formatting or the corresponding level that is to trigger the restart of the numbering (e.g. level 1) is not correctly specified. If the checkmark is not set, the paragraphs are numbered consecutively regardless of the headings.

Formatting problems after using the "Format Transfer" function in Word

The formatting of the LAWLIFT letterhead template works with an inheritance of properties between the format templates. For example, all styles depend on "LL Standard", ie the font, in particular, is transferred for all style sheets. The same applies to the numbering; in order to generate stringent numbering, the style sheets must be dependent on one another.

But if you use the "Transfer Format" function in Word together with the inheritance of numbering, Word calculates the indentations incorrectly and the layout gets mixed up. This behaviour can be reproduced in any Word document, regardless of LAWLIFT.

Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for this. Rather, you have to decide on a variant, the option of using the "Transfer Format" function or the option of flexible structuring with the help of the inheritance of the numbering.

The heading does not appear in preview mode or generated document

Please note that headings without their own paragraphs are not displayed during generation and in Word export. A heading is only displayed if there is at least one paragraph below it.
