You can adjust clauses in a template without changing the contract text or also give users without Lawlift access the opportunity to make changes. In this respect, there are usually three different case constellations that can occur.
Case 1: No negotiations
If no negotiations take place, nothing has to be changed in the clauses and the clauses remain the same.
Case 2: Clauses are predefined in the template
If there are already clauses in the template that will become relevant in many cases, they can be inserted using a selection or multiple choice question. This type of clause is called fallback clause.
Case 3: Clause changes
It is also possible for the author to leave space in his template for changes to clauses and use a question to query any change requests. For the sake of clarity, we recommend adding a new tab with a side letter containing these clause changes. This tab is then downloaded together with the contract without having to change it. Meta-data can also be helpful to capture changes. You can find out more about creating meta-data here.
